Sauria, is a nickname that characterizes those of us who are fascinated by the beauty of reptiles. Of course, as lovers of herpetology we carry out activities in Alas Purwo very pleasant. Moreover, in Alas Purwo National Park there is a lot of beauty and there are also species that are still in the IUCN Category. For us while in Alas Purwo National Park, we felt like we were in a hidden paradise for adventure. This arid tropical forest holds an incredible wealth of herpetofauna, from agile tree lizards to venomous snakes ready to strike.
With simple equipment, we wandered through mazes of bushes, traced streams, and even dived into swamps to find our intended species (monitor lizards, snakes, and lizards). Despite the dangers we faced, such as venomous snakes, the saurians’ enthusiasm never waned. We were mesmerized by the beauty and uniqueness of the creatures we encountered. Whenever we came across a lively tree lizard or a snake with a unique pattern, we burst into cheers. For us, finding the animal we were looking for was very exciting. Here we are not just hunting, but we are also managing data and looking for information that will certainly be useful for other researchers who will set foot in Alas Purwo National Park.
For us, witnessing Sauria’s enthusiasm was an experience that will live long in the memory. Sauria found not only intellectual fulfillment, but also inner peace in being at one with nature. The adventure in Alas Purwo National Park is an unforgettable memory.
